From Your First Display to a Collector's Wall: A Beginner's Roadmap

The idea of showing your own collection on the wall can sound like a big project at first. It doesn't have to be. The nicest collector's walls almost never appeared on day one – they grew.

If you don't know where to start, a simple roadmap helps. No big budget, no commitment, no risk of a wasted buy.

Step 1: Start with one card

Don't reach for the whole collection at once. Pick the one card that means the most to you – your favourite motif, your first rare card, your favourite Pokémon. A single display for that one card is the easiest and most affordable way in. And it shows you immediately how your card looks on the wall.

Step 2: Decide on a form

Before you expand, one quick basic decision pays off: do you want a connected wall later, or to show individual cards like pictures?

The hexagonal Hex Shapes® are made for a growing, modular wall – they combine freely. For individual cards in a classic picture-frame look, the Frames® are the right choice. Making this decision early saves you a style clash on the wall later.

Step 3: Expand with a thread

Now comes the part that turns individual cards into a wall. Instead of buying displays at random, give your wall an idea: an evolution line, a colour theme, a favourite generation, or simply your personal highlights.

The advantage of the modular system: you expand exactly when a fitting card comes along. The wall grows with your collection, not all at once.

Step 4: Choose the right spot

Before you mount anything, pick a smooth, load-bearing interior wall away from constant direct sun. That defuses the two most common practical questions – will the mounting hold, and will the artwork fade – right from the start.

What you don't need

No tools, no drill, no big starting budget. The displays mount magnetically and without drilling, each comes with its protective case, and you can stay small or expand at any time. There's no “too little” – a single, well-presented card is already a collector's wall in miniature.

Still unsure which form suits your collection? The display finder guides you to the right solution in a few steps. Or browse the Hex Shapes® and Frames® directly. You'll find more answers in the FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

How many displays do I need to start?
One is enough. It's best to start with your favourite card and expand later as you like – the modular Hex Shapes® are made for exactly that.

Do I need tools or DIY skills?
No. Mounting is magnetic and drill-free, using adhesive strips on a smooth wall. No tools required.

Can I redesign the wall later?
Yes. Because the displays sit magnetically on the mount, you can swap, rotate or rearrange motifs without working on the wall again.
